just call me junior

I called the AR Department of Health & Human Services today regarding the error on my birth certificate. The very patient woman on the phone explained that I would need to return the erroneous copy of my birth certificate along with a letter outlining the correction that should be made. She said it normally takes 12-16 weeks for corrections to be made, but that this particular issue might require a court order in which case the process would be extended. Uh oh! I'm hoping that this won't cause us any paperwork problems.

We received word this afternoon that the second part of our application is in the mail. Hooray for more stuff to fill out.

here's to little victories

I just received an email saying that the first part of our application is approved. Hooray! They will put the next batch of paperwork in the mail within the next few days and we'll start round two.

On a weird note, I received a copy of my birth certificate today. It says my name is Jessica Ann Johnston, Jr. So, either I'm a dude, or my parents have some explaining to do, or the state made a typo. I'm going with typo. Nice. Now I have to figure out how to have that corrected.
