ladies who lunch

Today I attended a "Mom Luncheon" at the local Dillon office. It was interesting. I met some lovely people, all in various stages of the process, and ate some delicious salad and cookies... The cookies were really tasty. Hmmm... maybe that's why I've never been a skinny girl... In any case, it was great to chat with the women who were there.

I'm back to being confused about the whole boy vs. girl situation. From the beginning Ken has said he feels strongly about a girl while I truly think I would be just as happy either way. I bring this up because I'm told there are alot of folks waiting for girl referrals, while there are 8 boys that nobody is waiting for. They are about to increase the wait time for girls due to the influx of girl requests. The supply and demand curve rears it's ugly head. We all know I'm not a patient person... I must say that I think we need to reconsider our choice. It distresses me that there are all of these families waiting on girls, while the boys are waiting on families.

Part II is officially in the mail as of 2:46!

some call it obsession, i call it good time management

It's fair to say that we might be over achievers. According to the Dillon Timeline, it takes 2-3 months to complete the official application, aka: Part II. We received our packet in the mail on September 30. We will be mailing back the completed application packet tomorrow, October 19. Hooray!

The autobiographies were killer, and to those of you kind enough to write recommendation letters for us, we couldn't be more appreciative. It's quite odd trying to distill your life into a few pages. It's also difficult to try the same with a friendship, especially when you have to work in things about our standing in the community and any known substance abuse. You are great peeps and will be rewarded for your efforts.

As I'm sure you have figured out by now, the photo is of our fabulous pile of documents, essays, bank statements, tax returns, etc. that make up Part II. I'm told the dossier is more involved. I'm officially afraid of the dossier. Luckily, that's a few months away.
