progress on the little dude's room

I finally made a decision! This will be Beckett's bedding. I don't really like the ruffled skirt, so I will probably redo the skirt to create a more tailored effect. Regardless, the bedding is now sitting in the room, patiently waiting on the crib to arrive. Today we went to Pickles & Ice Cream, a local baby shop, and did some spending. We bought the bedding, the crib, and a mattress. The crib has to be brought over from the warehouse and will be ready to pick up on Tuesday afternoon. Hooray!

We just bought this house last spring, and have yet to remove the awful hummingbird border along the top of the baby room wall. It's tastefully done, though not at all our taste, and I don't think that the ultra feminine flower and bird motif would really go well with the new bedding. Needless to say, the border has to go. Hopefully we'll begin the border removal tomorrow afternoon. Here's hoping that it peels off easily and that we don't have to get steamers involved.

christmas, kansas city, and excessive use of kleenex

We were supposed to go to KC to visit Ken's family the week before Christmas, but due to the fact that I managed to get bronchitis and a sinus infection at the same time, we opted to hold off on our travel until I was less likely to infect others with my own personal plague. I was beyond pathetic. Today was the first day that I did anything even resembling work in over a week. Uugggh! i HATE being sick!

In any event, I started feeling better on Christmas Eve. We went to dinner with my Mom's family and spent Christmas morning with my Dad's crew. Good times. On Tuesday we decided to trek to KC. It was great to see Ken's family... it had been WAY too long since we were there. We tried to find a suitable baby bedding option at one of the many shops in the KC area, but since I should likely change my name to Princess Picky Pants, I didn't find a thing. Poor Ken was beyond exasperated. While in KC we took a fun photo of us with Ken's mom and Grandpa. It is included in the holiday photos.

Despite the fact that we didn't do much, I am worn out. To be honest, I'm still a little under the weather, but I feel tons better than this time last week. For what it's worth, I highly endorse the use of tissue with lotion. I've gone through three, yes three, boxes of kleenex in the past 10 days, and the ones with lotion are the way to go.
