marvelous miscellany
First and foremost: Rachel and her posse are headed to Vietnam TOMORROW! I am beyond excited about this. I don't know this woman, yet I feel as if I do. Hers was the blog that sparked my addiction, and since I started reading it shortly after her dossier was completed, I feel as if I have followed the whole journey. Her process was a bit unconventional and somewhat accelerated, and so is ours. Start to finish, her process will have taken just over 8 months. This gives me hope that ours can be finished as quickly. So, say a prayer for Rachel. She needs all the good karma and positive energy that she can get... she's about to be on a VERY LONG flight with her husband, her 5 year old and her parents, and that could make anybody snippy. Here's hoping for a smooth flight.
Be sure to check out Rachel's Blog for updates from VN! She's going to the orphanage where Beckett is staying, and if we're lucky, we might receive an interesting photo or two.
Ok, back to that whole "8 month" scenario. We started our process on 9/23/06. Eight months from that date would be May 23. According to the Dillon time line, that is actually feasible. Let's hope it happens. Of course, I'm not holding my breath. Yes, I want him home, but I'm not going to freak out unless we can't have him home by mid July. Then I will freak. Consider yourself warned.
If you haven't checked out Benzie-Wenzie lately, you should... seems the little dude has something to say.
Last, but certainly not least, my good buddy Jen is having knee replacement surgery today. It's a long story, but trust me, it is completely possible to be in your early thirties and need a new knee. She made me feel it while it moved, and let me just say this: YIKES! Imagine holding two large rough rocks in your hands and then grinding them together and that will give you and idea of the sensation. The surgery is done with an epidural, not general anesthesia. Clearly this has it's merits, but she was not thrilled with the idea of hearing the entire surgery, and I can't imagine that it would be pleasant. The upside is that as of sometime this afternoon she will have a brand new, theoretically pain free, knee! Woo hooie! So send the girl some positive energy, or prayers, or whatever you choose, I'm just saying that some good vibes might make this afternoon a bit more tolerable.
