four months, some dye, and a side of procastination

Tomorrow marks four months since we received our referral. Wow! It's amazing how time flies by and yet manages to stand still all at the same time. On the one hand it's hard to believe it has been four whole months. On the other hand, it feels like over a year. Hopefully we'll actually have our little guy at home four months from now.

I have a favorite purse. It was a Christmas gift from Ken in 2005. I had been coveting a specific Tano bag that was due to come out with their spring collection. It was big, sort of boxy, with lots of well placed pockets and in the most scrumptious shade of buttery tan. So, Ken got me a gift certificate to the local shop that sells the bags, and I began stalking them every other week to see if one of the bags had arrived. Finally it arrived in early May, and I was a happy girl. Ken didn't understand what all the fuss was about, but that's beside the point. I LOVE this purse. In December I noticed that a pen had leaked in the bottom and two tiny blue spots had appeared in the bottom of the purse, marring the pristine leather. I was heartbroken, but I carried the bag anyway, and did the best to hide the spots from public view. Last week I was shopping with a friend when I mentioned that I needed a new purse. I turned the bag around to show her the tiny blue dots and what to my horrified eyes should appear but three GIANT pink stains from the highlighter that I had dropped into my bag that morning. I'm not kidding when I say that I thought I might lose consciousness. Clearly I have a problem. Over the weekend I used an alternate bag and hated every second. I needed to find a way to resurrect my bag, or else I was going to have to drop a car payment on a new one. So I called a leather shop. They suggested Rit Dye. No kidding. I'm proud to report that I am now the proud owner of the formerly buttery tan, now chocolate brown bag of my dreams. The stains have been covered, the interior lining fabric remains the same fabulous pumpkin color, and my bag has been saved. All hail Rit Dye! It's not just for tie dyeing anymore.

I should be sending emails to my clients with feedback from yesterday's showing, working on marketing materials, contacting other agents with client bases that might fit my listings, organising paperwork, and any of the 14 items on my to do list for this afternoon. Instead I am writing a blog post and contemplating lunch. It's fair to call me distracted. I guess I better go cross some things off my list.
