no progress. no problem.

Today we were told that "the dossiers are being compiled". I don't know how this relates to Hanoi. I don't know if this means that Beckett's paperwork is being compiled, or that our paperwork is being compiled with his. Yesterday I was a mess, but today I am oddly calm. I'm just glad to know that his dossier exists.

I feel a bit like the dossier statement is a stock response... sort of like saying the check is in the mail. Despite the fact that I was hoping for news of our provincial approval, I'm happy to know that the cogs are turning, and for the moment that is enough.

This afternoon we have a shower thrown by Ken's coworkers. It will be at a bar. I plan to have an adult beverage or two. Between the liquor and the presents I ought to have an even rosier outlook on things!

I was also told that we should still expect to travel with the Paynes and the Carleys, so all is well. Please don't feel sorry for us, or tell me that you don't think the Vietnamese officials have a work ethic. I've had it up to my eyeballs with the negativity I've been spewing lately. I'm turning over a new leaf, and I think you should too. Everything is fine.
