what happens now?
Hooray! We have our PA, so we must be getting on the plane tomorrow, right? Well, not exactly.
According to our agency, it can take the office in Hanoi 2 weeks (or more) to review Beckett's dossier and our dossier. Then they will be sent back to the Vinh Long local justice department for additional review. It can take the local justice department 2 weeks or longer to review the dossiers. Once they have completed their review they will forward them to the people’s committee for final review. The people’s committee can take 2 weeks or longer to complete their process, but when they are satisfied a GNR date will be set.
To paraphrase, we should know our G&R date in about six weeks. Of course, it could be longer. The average time from PA to G&R has been 6-8 weeks lately. As far as I'm concerned, this means that travel in June is still a possibility.
For those of you who would like an overall process refresher:
The next big step will be our TA (Travel Authorization) when we are told to order our Visas. This usually happens when the dossiers are back at the local justice department. Then we'll just be waiting to travel. I'm told that things progress quickly from this point forward. Here's hoping that is true.
