sleepin' 9 to 5, what a way to make a livin'
After many trials and tribulations I am proud to announce that the little dude slept soundly from just before 9pm to just before 5am this morning. I have never been so happy to see a clock say 4:30am.
We've had a very difficult time adjusting to the time change. Poor little Beckett was on Vietnam time for a few days and then I think his body clock went completely wacky. For several days in a row he would only sleep about an hour at a time. Talk about exhausting, for him and for us!
As Ken said previously, our homecoming was fantastic! It was great to finally be done with the traveling and even better to introduce our little man to his massive family.
About the journey home... The transpacific flight was terrible, though the bassinet was a lifesaver. Beckett slept for the first six hours or so, but once he awoke he was peeved and he let the entire plane know his true feelings. Folks were very helpful (note the sarcasm) and suggested that we feed him and change his diaper to stop the screaming. Gee, do you think that might help? Silly me. I was planning to let him starve to death while wallowing in his own filth. Wow. If only I put him in a clean diaper and offered him a bottle. Why, that would solve all of our problems!
We went to the pediatrician the day after we got home and found out that the little guy had a reason to scream. Apparently he is the proud owner of a raging ear infection. That's right airplane people, the kid has an ear infection. I guess clean pants don't fix everything.
