one month. yowza.

One month ago today Beckett officially became a member of our little family. It's hard to believe it was only a month ago. It feels like he's been here forever. Of course, we're still adjusting to our new family unit. It is a process after all. The little dude seems to be opening up to us more every day. His hair is beginning to thicken up and he's gained about two pounds since we've been home. When we first met his little legs couldn't support his weight, but now he is pulling up and will stand for long stretches while holding onto a finger or a piece of furniture. He wants to walk in a big way.

So, tonight we went to the local Vietnamese restaurant for a celebratory dinner to mark the occasion. Beckett even tasted some pho and he seemed to like it quite a lot.

Back to the thing about gaining two pounds... that's over 10% of his total body weight! If only I needed to gain 10% of my total body weight... bring on the warm bread with butter! Beckett's weight gain food of choice is mashed potatoes. I'm starting to think he might be a mashers junkie and I feel a bit like his pusher. If this keeps up we might have to have an intervention. Hmmm... can the pusher host an intervention or is that a conflict of interests? I digress.

Over all we've had a fabulous first month. Sure it's been an emotional roller coaster, but life isn't any fun without the bumps. I'm happy to report that his grief seems to be lessening and the quality of everyone's sleep is vastly improved. I'm becoming quite adept with the homemade baby foods if I do say so myself, and it's not nearly as time consuming as one might think.

I'll leave you with a sideshow of some of my favorite recent photos. If you want to see more, just click here.
