tots, shots, and random thoughts

Tomorrow we're off to the pediatrician for a mess of shots and blood work. As many of you know, I take anticoagulants (I have an artificial aortic valve) and have had monthly or biweekly blood draws for pretty much my entire life. The end result of said semi constant needling is that I find it hard to believe that having blood drawn makes folks squeamish. It's not that I'm a wholly insensitive person. I've held my good buddy Heather's hand through many blood draws and taught her the magic of the near painless blue or green butterfly needles, and she, in turn, slaps me around when I have injection angst. Yes, I am panic stricken when I get shots. For whatever reason I'm okay with things coming out, but not so much with them going in. Anyway, I'm curious as to how Bex will react to the needle barrage. I'm afraid that he will be scared and his frightened face is the worst. It's not as if we can reason with him and explain that it will be over swiftly or that it is really for his own good. I know there will be crying, I just hope it's not me doing it.

Everybody makes a big deal about pre-medicating before the attack. I'll definitely give the tyke some Tylenol. What I'm wondering is what to give myself. : )

Speaking of medicating, do you guys know about this? Apparently the FDA isn't in favor of cold meds for the under two year old set.

On a completely unrelated note, I really want to see the new Bourne movie. I wanna see it bad. Over lunch yesterday my Dad, cool dude that he is, offered to hang out with the grandson so that Ken and I can go see said flick on Saturday. Despite the fact that I have some trepidation about leaving the wee one, I think it will be a great trial run. I'm also looking forward to some movie theater candy in a big way. Mmmmm.... junior mints.

Also, my husband is the coolest. He puts the little man to bed every night and manages to get him to sleep in record time. What would take me a good half hour takes Ken 10 minutes. I'm not sure if he's magic or just has mad skillz, but either way it's awesome.
