because you asked...

At some point I must have mentioned that videos of meeting the little dude were in fact in existence because several folks have requested to see said footage. I have posted three clips, here, here, and here. The quality is lacking due to the large file size. There are tears and a lot of nonsensical babbling. You should really save yourself and spare me the humiliation, but if you must view them suit yourself. Don't say I never gave you anything.

is it ok to race an old lady if she says she can beat you?

This was a very busy weekend. We made our first official road trip with the little dude and made our way a few hours north to meet the great-grandparents. By ourselves this is a two and a half hour drive. With Bex in tow it took closer two three and a half. No, we weren't driving slower, it's just that he needed new diapers and then he was hungry... you get the idea. When I was a kid I honestly thought it took five hours to get there. With three or four kids in the car nobody ever had to use the restroom at the same time and somebody was always thirsty. My poor dad has the patience of a saint.

Even though I hated long car rides my Dad always found a way to make them fun. Clearly the tradition continues.

It was wonderful to see my grandparents (aka Omy & GP), and for Beckett to meet his greats. Omy has always been a bit of a baby whisperer and managed to get the world's wiggliest child to sit on her lap for an entire book.

Bex loved cruising the long hallways in his walker. He chased GP down the hall and squealed if GP got too far ahead. It was adorable! Here he is in hot pursuit.

A number of friendly residents stopped to compliment his snazzy wheels, and he was in awe of the various wheeled items used by many residents. One particularly sassy lady stopped next to the boy in her power scooter and challenged him to a race. I kid you not. He seemed to understand the concept, sized up his competition, bit on his lower lip and nodded his agreement. She started up her motor and took off down the hall. Bex was in hot pursuit, running as fast as his little legs could manage, arms waving wildly in the air, squealing and giggling all the way. How I wish I'd had the video camera.

More photos here, including one that makes my brother look a bit like he might be Wolverine. Weird.
