32 flavors of eductaion

After the recent issues regarding obtaining a spot with a quality early childhood education provider, it's fair to say that our elementary school options have been on my radar. Yes, I know that Kindergarten is a few years away, but it's never to early to explore our options. If we decide to go public we may have to move in order to secure a spot in the school district of choice, ie. one with reasonable test scores and high parent satisfaction. If we decide to go private we have to ready ourselves financially for the costs involved. We really don't think that we are cut out for homeschooling so that is likely not an option. All of which brings me to my main query. How do people decide which education option is best for their child?

Last night we attended an informational meeting about a new charter school in our area. They have lofty goals, and, assuming they can live up to their current hype, this option could end up being our best option. Of course, the school has yet to open its doors and who knows what things will look like in three years. All I know is this: weighing your education options and selecting the best fit is far from easy.

I'm sure many of you have kids in school. What option did you choose and why?
