big do'ins

It was an eventful weekend.

Bex managed to survive his first long haul road trip thanks in large part to the DVD player. I must have a car DVD player of my own. It is necessary for my sanity.

We hung out with Ken's Mom and introduced the boy to his great-grandfather. Despite the fact that the camera is practically glued to my hip, I somehow managed to leave it in the car and neglected to take any pics of the meeting. Urghhh!

On Saturday we had the pleasure of a play date with Dianna and Pheebs! They are fabulous! Miss Phoebe is even cuter in person than she is in photos, and I couldn't get over how tiny she was next to Beckett. He looks like a giant. We had a fantastic time watching Ken chase the boy (thanks honey!) while the three of us girls sat and chatted. Well, Dianna and I chatted. Phoebe didn't have much to say. It is a truly odd experience to finally meet someone that you have talked to for the better part of a year. Suffice it to say, Dianna is every bit as snarky as I had hoped. We had to cut our visit short due to some pressing work issues on my part, stupid work, but it was fun while it lasted. I am looking forward to seeing the whole Kansas Family at the Dillon Family Day in June.

On the way home we had one of those unfortunate parenting firsts. Bex had been happily riding along when Ken happened to look in the baby-view mirror to discover a child completely covered in vomit. You'd think that completely encasing oneself in puke would have been an audible activity, but somehow our little dude managed to execute said task in complete silence. Impressive, yes. Disgusting, absolutely. We were miles from any place to pull over and since the little man was happy we drove on to the next exit and set about cleaning the nastiness from the boy and the carseat. I should mention that this was no easy task. Without going in to excruciating details let me say this: it took almost and entire box of baby wipes, two tshirts and a blanket to mop things up. Yuck.
