eat fruits and vegetables to grow healthy and strong

We had Chinese food the other day and this was Beckett's fortune.

I must say, I have done a bit of a nutritional 180 with the boy. At first he ate only all organic, no preservatives, dye free, unprocessed foods. Now I'm just happy if he eats. He has discovered the beauty of choice and is exercising his ability to make decisions about his food consumption. Grrr! I think I liked things better when he didn't clamp his jaw shut and refuse to eat. At this point he pretty much subsits on carbs alone. My pediatrician tells me not to fret, that he will even out and that he is clearly not malnourished. I just wish I could get some non dairy proteins into his belly on occasion. Veggies would be swell, but he does eat fruit so I'm not too worried about that. I never thought I would say this, but I look forward to the human hoover of the teenage years. Forcing food in is no fun at all.

Speaking of food, we went to Cheesecake Factory in KC and consumed copious amounts of, well, cheesecake! Bex was unimpressed preferring to eat the whipped cream instead. Prior to dessert we ordered him some mac and cheese and the little turkey refused to eat it. Instead he begged for fries. So my son ate fries and whipped cream for dinner. Worst Mom ever. Bleh.

We had the pleasure of enjoying our cheesecake factory visit with our good pals the Condrays. They just happened to be in town and we were thrilled to see them. It is always great to catch up with old friends, but they managed to up the cool quotient a notch by announcing that they had just accepted the referral of a babe from Korea! Baby boy Condray is just about the cutest thing ever. Congratulations, guys! We are super excited for you!
