Tonight I said goodbye to Basil the cat. After 10 years together it was clear that she was no longer happy in our home. She never forgave us for adding a dog to the family and bringing home a baby only added insult to injury. After countless chats with the vet regarding behavioral issues regarding the baby, we decided to find Basil a new home as opposed to putting her on mood altering drugs. She was not psychotic, she just hated the dog and the boy. Her new home is in the country and has a large area that she will be able to roam. They have bay windows with lots of sun. Her new owner specifically asked if I thought the cat would be willing to sleep with her in bed. As Basil's favorite night spot is curled up on my pillow next to my face, I think her new home will be a close runner up to kitty nirvana. We'll miss her, but I truly believe she will love her new home. Farewell kitten. We love you.
