vietnam family weekend

Whew! Last weekend was insane! We trekked to Tulsa for Dillon's Vietnam Family Weekend.

Beckett got to meet Zack, Dori Grace, Ian, Dylan, Sarah, Avi Joy, Khoa and Eli, among many others. He was reunited with his old roomie Noah, his pal Phoebe, and our travel mate Loston. One would think this meant that I was able to have lovely conversation with all of their parents. Not so much. Bex was a wild man. From the moment we arrived until the festivities ended he ran, RAN at full speed, whizzing around other kiddos, climbing up and down steps, and chasing anyone who would let him do so. For my little dude it was absolute bliss. He is rarely in a room with so many kiddos (40 or so) and he was having a blast. Unfortunately for me, he has mastered going up steps, but down is not his strong suit, so we had to follow him around as he clambered up the steps so that one of us could be there to grab his hand when he needed help with his descent. Even with all of the chasing it was big fun.

There were lots of photos taken by a professional and as soon as I have access to those I will be happy to share. You can see my pics here, but there aren't many and the quality is seriously lacking. What can I say? Ken and I were busy.

The organizers did a great job. There were lots of activities to keep the wee ones busy (assuming that your wee one is easily occupied, which mine is not), great education sessions for the 'rents, and a super delicious Vietnamese lunch.

I very much look forward to attending this event every year. It's good for the boy and it's good for the mama. Now if we could just manage to schedule some parents only time so that we could chat, then it would be a perfect get together. Of course, I couldn't help but think of those who weren't in attendance. Rachel, Leslie & Meridith, we missed you guys! Shelley, Tricia, Stacy, Kim, Kelly, Kelly and Lisa, we hope to see you there next year!

Special thanks to Dianna's daughter for chasing my boy while I was catching my breath. If you guys ever move to my neck of the woods I'd like to keep her on retainer for baby sitting duty.
