let there be light! and a healthy helping of other stuff

As of approximately 4:oopm on Sunday, our power is restored. We are now free to go about our business and do crazy things like stay up past 7pm without the use of candles, and wash our laundry in the machine instead of the sink. Not that we did either of those things, mind you, but we would have if we had been staying at home. Lucky for us there was room at the Grandparental Inn.

Bex has recently uttered his first sentences. He said, "Bye bye, Grand Dad" and "Go, truck, go!"

I did a happy dance for the wonders of speech therapy.

Speaking of speech therapy, I noticed on a recent insurance statement that the billed rate is $418 per hour. $418! Fully aware that said therapist doesn't get to take all of that home herself, but if she did she'd be banking $870,000 per year. Not too bad for wearing shorts and playing with kiddos all day. No, I am not suggesting that said therapist does nothing more than play. Yes, I very much acknowledge the value of such therapy. But $418 an hour? Really? REALLY? We go three hours a week! That is $1254/week or $5016/month! Gulp! Thank goodness for insurance and tax payer funded early intervention programs!

According to JCICS, Vietnam has appointed a chief negotiator to work with the US on a new agreement. Hooray for baby steps!

I noticed for the first time today that the same JCICS page has changed the status of VN Adoptions from open to closed. I knew it was over, at least for a bit, but seeing the word on the web page made it feel just that much more real. Sniff.

On a random not, I can't stop thinking about baked goods. I want a brownie in a serious way. A really good one. Or maybe a chocolate chip cookie. Ohhh... maybe just cookie dough Or a Hershey bar. Alas, we have no such deliciousness in the house. I guess I'll settle for a fig newton. Not exactly the chocolate laden treat I was hoping for. Good grief. Hormones, anyone?

I'm off to use ridiculous amounts of electricity, just because I can.
